Q:) I've not lost any weight in three weeks! help!

A:) OK you need to look at a few things. Firstly get your body fat checked by a member of the gym staff. After a while your weight may stick but your body fat will drop. No change there? Next is diet. Are you still eating the same calorie dense, fatty foods or have you changed your diet to match your new fitness regime?


Q:) do u have student discounts? can you advise what packages you offer for a student wishing ti join the gym?

A:) Yes. We have various packages including student concessions, ranging from £13 through to £23, why not come along to any of our sites where one of our Sales Advisors will be happy to discuss your options.


Q:) how much is the membership for myself if i want to join ?

Q:) is there any upper age limit for starting to exercise at the gym

A:) of course not, all members of all ages are welcome to any of our Clubs, however if you have any health issues then consult your GP first.


Q:) What can the club offer me?

A:) The Club can offer a reasonably priced membership to cover most personal circumstances, there is no 12 month contract and all Fitness Instructors are qualified and are members of the Recognised Exercise Professionals register (REPs) and are only too pleased to help you achieve your goal.


Q:) How can I achieve a flat stomach?

A:) Stomach exercises can help to strengthen abdominal muscles but will not get rid of excess fat. Improving your diet alongside regular exercise will help you to achieve a trimmer tummy.


Q:) How can i prevent 'bingo wings'?

A:) Exercises for the tricep muscles (at the back of the arm) help to tighten this area. There are many exercises for the triceps and the staff here will be happy to show you a selection of them.


Q:) Why is there a 20 minute time limit on the cardio machines?

A:) Cardio machines have a 20 minute limit to allow the Club to cater for all our members at any given time, especially during our peak periods. However members wishing to work on a C.V programme can move from one C.V machine to another consecutively e.g. Bike, Treadmill, Cardiowave ect. This will allow you to achieve your training objective.


Q:) I want to get bigger. should I just lift lots of dumbells?

A:) Yes and No. Although dumbells are probably the best way to put on muscle, they can be hazardous if your body is not prepared for lifting them. Before you life dumbells you should use fixed weight exercises that work over two joints to improve stability over your shoulders, elbows, hips and knees as these are the areas most at risk of injury when you start lifting.


Q:) I just want to loose weight, all I need to do is cardio, right?

A:) if you only want to loose weight then yes, an hour of cardio is excellent, however, of you want to change your body shape and tone up then you need to do a balanced mix of cardio and weights. Only by doing some weights will you get that toned and defined look.
