CALL OUT FOR ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS
We’re switching off the lights. Shutting up. Closing down…But not for long! Soon we’ll be back with a state-of-the-art Museum, a Town Hall to behold and a revamped and recycled Arts Centre ready for action.
In the meantime, everything will be out of place. In association with Take Me Somewhere, Paisley is developing its own festival of innovative artworks in unconventional spaces taking place in from 17th to the 19th May 2019. We’d like to form some new relationships (or deepen some old ones) with artists and performers who take their work outside traditional arts spaces and into streets, cafes, pubs, libraries, parks, kitchens, living-rooms and wild spaces.
We’re offering up to £2000 each to four artists, performers or creative groups to explore and develop a new idea that takes place outside traditional venues. Based in the Paisley Arts Centre for up to two weeks and with some support from the centre’s technical team, you will be free to roam Paisley’s streets, making magic happen and transforming spaces, places and people with your work. Development will take place between January and March 2019.
At the end of the process there will be a sharing or happening for an audience and some documentation of the process and outputs. This will begin a conversation with Paisley Arts Centre that may lead to further development and co-production. Inspiring ideas that fit with our programme could be invited to perform/exhibit at out of place in the future, supported by our technical, production and programming teams.
