Sport can have a very positive influence on children and young people, especially when activities are led by organisations and people who place their wellbeing first. Renfrewshire Leisure Sports and Health Services continue to support local sports clubs and organisations who are members of a Community Sport Hub (CSH) through essential training workshops. In partnership with sportscotland – the national agency for sport - and Active Advantage – Learning and Development Consultants - two Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport Workshops were delivered in June with Shitokai Karate coaches taking part in online sessions.
Sensei Terry Connell said:
“If you teach sport where children take part there is no more important workshop than this, indeed as a responsible coach it is your duty of care to participate. The legislation surrounding the coaching of children has seen many changes these past few years and I highly recommend all coaches enrol on this workshop. Thank you to all who made this possible and look forward to our next virtual workshop.
