Digi Inventors make it to the final out of 105 competing schools!!!! S6 Pupils Connor Wilson, Craig Kennedy, Emily Bannon, Lusia Steele and Adam Hazle known as Enpower Fitnes have spent the last two days at the digi inventor’s boot camp in the Citizen M where they have come face to face with the most influential digital entrepreneurs from Soppra Steria to Microsoft and Xbox.
The #DigiInventorsChallenge, in association with Andy Murray and the Digital Health & Care Institute, is on a mission to find smart new ways to help Scotland’s young people keep active, eat well and stay healthy and happy, now and in the future.
Before the Easter break, 5 pupils from S5 took part in creating a digital app that would be used to assess and monitor your health. The group of 5 and their mentor Olivia Bell, Active Schools Coordinator, pulled together an idea for a digital app that would capture Primary school pupils from P4-P7 that would help to assist in the monitoring of their healthy eating, daily exercise and physical activity. A unique and authentic idea that is different to the current apps today. They were a success and shortlisted out of 105 schools.
During the two day boot camp, mentor Olivia and the pupils came up with a business plan and a sales pitch to deliver to the judges. The group also met the most influential individuals, such as athlete Sammy Kinghorn who inspired us all with her story to some of the UK’s famous entrepreneurs. The S6 pupils also completed professional masterclasses in business, marketing and sales pitching. The recorded sales pitch will be sent to Andy Murray who will make the final decision on who the winning app/group will be. The group will find out in 3-4 weeks who the winning team will be. I have everything crossed for Enpower fitness and I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved so far. Cross your fingers and toes for our pupils!!! Well done guys!!!
