Please note that Erskine Fitness Suite facilities at Erskine Community Sports Centre will close on Wednesday 17th October at 9pm and re-open at Park Mains Sports Complex at 9am on Saturday 20th October.
Erskine fitness suite, currently located in the portable cabin beside the sports centre, will be moving to Park Mains High Sports Complex. Please find below some FAQs regarding the move for Renfrewshire Leisure customers.
What are the main benefits for Renfrewshire Leisure customers?
As part of the move, £100,000 of new equipment has been purchased for the new fitness suite in addition to much of the equipment currently located in the portable cabin. The overall size of the fitness suite is approximately double the size of the current facility.
Will there be any disruption during the move?
We have worked closely with contractors to ensure the minimal disruption possible to our valued customers. Works to transfer the fitness suite will begin next week, on Tuesday 16th October and will be completed by Friday 19th. Fitness suite facilities will be unavailable in Erskine on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th. We apologise for the disruption on these days. Any members wishing to use a fitness suite can do so at any of our five other facilities available at the Lagoon, On-X Linwood, Renfrew Sports Centre, Johnstone Community Sports Hub and Ralston Sports Centre.
Will customers need to do anything?
As part of the move, all members should have a digital photograph attached to their membership. This is a simple security measure and many members will already have done so. When you next visit, the reception team will ask to take your photo if you have not done so previously.
How will customers access the building and move through it?
Customers will access the building through the main entrance doors to the Sports Complex where our team will be in attendance at all times to assist and support you during your visit. During the school day, customers will have access to the fitness suite and specific changing rooms exclusively for customer use only. Renfrewshire Leisure members should carry their membership card at all times; we will provide lanyards for anyone who would like one.
How will the fitness suite operate out with school hours?
Before and after the school day starts and finishes (outwith the hours of 8.45 and 4.45), the entire fitness suite will be available to customers. Outwith school hours, at weekends and during the school holidays the fitness suite will be solely used by Renfrewshire Leisure customers..
What changing rooms will Renfrewshire Leisure members use? What locker facilities will customers have?
Last summer, male and female changing rooms for customers to use during the school day were created by converting an existing changing room. Lockers for customer use before and during the school day will also be available. After the school day, the community will enjoy full use of all open changing rooms and the lockers in the corridor just as they do now.
How many Renfrewshire Leisure members of staff will be present in the facility? Will all staff be PVG checked and first aid trained?
There will be a minimum of three Renfrewshire Leisure staff present at all times. The office will also be the base for the Erskine Area Active Schools team. All staff will be PVG checked and there will be a first-aider on duty at all times.
What areas of the Sports Complex will be shared by pupils and Renfrewshire Leisure customers? How will this be managed?
During the school day, very little of the building will be shared; only the entrance and the corridor that will allow our customers access to their changing rooms and the fitness suite. Outwith the hours between 8.45 and 4.45, at weekends and during school holidays, the fitness suite will be solely used by Renfrewshire Leisure customers. Various operational and security measures have been introduced to help us share the space safely and effectively.
What equipment will be available to Renfrewshire Leisure members?
Members will continue to enjoy use of a mix of cardiovascular machines (treadmills, bikes, etc) fixed resistance machines, free weights and general fitness exercise floor areas just as they do now at Erskine CSC. The fitness suite at Park Mains High School is twice the size (400m2) of the current fitness suite at Erskine CSC so we will be able to offer customers visiting the fitness suite before or after the school day a much larger number and range of equipment. Floor plans and images of equipment that will be in place will be made available to members and the community in the weeks before we relocate the fitness suite to the Sports Complex at Park Mains.
What parking will be available to Renfrewshire Leisure members?
The community will share the existing school car park. There will be no designated parking bays.
