Lochfield Ladies Bowling Club

Lochfield Bowling Club started in 1921 , a few years after ‘The Great War’ . The Ladies decided to ‘go’ it alone in 1934 when there was a fair bit of interest shown . The Club has always been a focal point in the Lochfield Area.

Ever since then the club has been well attended. At present we have forty members ,which in today’s climate is excellent , as many Private Clubs see their numbers falling.

We meet regularly on Monday 6pm and Wednesday 1pm . Out with these times we have access to the greens in Lochfield .You don’t need to own bowls as they are provided by The Council on the day .

The atmosphere in Lochfield is very friendly and relaxed. All the members would go out of their way to make you feel welcome. If you want to meet people and enjoy a bit of gentle exercise in the fresh air why not come along for a visit ?

Southend Ladies Bowls and Social Club

In 1939 a number of ladies left Lochfield Ladies Bowling Club where they had been members since its opening in 1934.  They started a club for older ladies which became Southend Ladies Bowling Club, games to be played on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

The first President was a Mrs James Galt, whose husband was Provost of Paisley at the time.  They both worked very hard to get outdoor activities in Paisley.

Unfortunately our numbers have fallen and a number of our  members can no longer play but still come along to the club.  They enjoy sitting out watching the game and then a wee cup of tea and a "blether".

We play for the Quaich with the Lochfield Ladies and the Millennium Trophy which is a mixed pairs with the Lochfield Men.

Any lady aged 55 years and over who would like to join us would be made most welcome.  You do not need to have your own bowls as there is a variety of bowls available at the club, as well as aids to help those less mobile.

Lochfield Gents Bowling and Social Club

Membership of Lochfield Gents Club is open to those who wish to play bowls, or, to those who wish to meet socially in this environment.

The advantages in becoming a member means that you will have access to all that the club is involved in during its normal programme and all events such as the summer outing, lunches, and other special days highlighted in our Calendar of Events including the opportunity to participate in club competitions.

There is no stipulation that you must attend regularly on every playing day, or, purchase a uniform, or, be proficient in bowling, or, playing in competitions. All you require are flat soled shoes, as, bowls can be provided by Renfrewshire Leisure, on the day.

We meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 1pm until 3pm at Lochfield Bowling Club, during the season. April until September.

The atmosphere at Lochfield is more laid back, than what may be experienced at bigger clubs. We also participate at the Paisley Indoor Bowling Club in October, meeting every Friday at 12 noon.

Annual membership to Lochfield Gents Bowling and Social Club is free for new members in their first year (however, a bowls membership for Renfrewshire Leisure is required to play bowls).

We hope you decide to join us, or, come for a visit as our guest.

For more information on any of the three clubs, please contact Lochfield Bowling Club on 0141 884 7436 , who will be happy to pass on your details to either of the Committees.
