Now in its fifth year, ModStuff from LNP Promotions brings you an afternoon of top entertainment – for free!
This year, we are working in partnership with Paisley Vespa Scooter Club to raise funds for Renfrewshire Carers Centre during the afternoon event. We’ll be asking you to dig deep. There will be a raffle and plenty of opportunity to make a donation.
The Scooter Ride-out and Competition is fast becoming an eagerly-anticipated fixture in the Paisley events calendar. Scooters from far and wide will be made very welcome and led around town by Paisley Vespa Scooter Club in an event sponsored by local business Bianco e Nero.
Paisley’s own Gerry McGuire will be DJ, playing the best in Mod, Northern Soul and R&B all day and evening in the Spiegeltent - say hello and thanks to Gerry for coming back to DJ again at ModStuff as it’s a long shift and we appreciate all he does on the day!
Appearing on the bill in the afternoon are:
Republic of Soul
Republic of Soul is an eight-piece band with a full three-piece horn section. Glasgow 5 years ago.
Formed in Glasgow five years ago with the idea of bringing soul to the people, they quickly established themselves as one of the most dynamic and eclectic bands around. Playing a wide range of classic soul numbers, natty ska tunes and some stompin’ rock and roll, their performances always have the crowd calling out for more. People just don’t stop dancing as the sound is so infectious
Influences include Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Eddie Floyd, The Faces, The Specials and Solomon Burke.
The Kinks Experience
Founder members, bass player and life-long Kinks fan Alan Drover (ex Skelter) and guitarist Peter McClurg (ex The Rhymes and Skelter), had considered the idea of The Kinks Experience for years, but the right line-up was elusive. Until they were joined by Rikki McKay (ex Blackberry Jack), drummer Tommy Clark (The Seventh Sons, The Standards) and keyboard player Arnie Burgoyne (Echo and the Bunnymen) for a complete line-up that has gone on to become one of the most musically and visually accurate Kinks tribute acts in the country.
Playing authentic guitars, keys and amps to carefully keep the sound vintage, the band have worked hard on all the original arrangements of the songs - and they are all there, from You Really got Me and Dead End Street to Waterloo Sunset and Lola.
The Turkey Nuts
A five-piece garage/Mod/punk guitar band re-creating the great American and British Mod/Beat tunes of the 60's and beyond, the powerful dance, drum and bass beats of The Turkey Nuts are fronted by jangly yet crunchy retro guitar sounds and authentic vocal harmonies. Get your dancing shoes on!
Influences include The Remains, The Sonics, The Litter, The Morlocks, The Electric Prunes, The Creation, The Chesterfield Kings, Moving Sidewalks, The Who, The Kinks, The Sparkles, The Count Five and The Stooges.
