This year's Renfrewshire Schools Climbing Competition was held at the Beild Hall in paisley so thanks again to The JNI Scouts for their assistance with this event and also in partnership with Climb Scotland's Schools fun climbing competition. So thanks also to the Climb Scotland team for setting the competition routes.
We had in all 13 schools and units represented throughout the 4 age categories. each Age category climbs its own routes set at varying difficulties.
Category A 2001-2002 was won by Cameron McIntyre of Gleniffer High with a score of 366/400, Cameron is a previous winner and qualified for national finals in the past.
Category B 2003-2004 was won by Niamh McCreadie of St Andrews Academy with a score of 371/400. Niamh is a long-time member of Sport Services own Thursday night climbing club so big congratulations to her.
Category C 2005-2006 was fiercely contested with three pupils from three different schools all scoring a maximum 400/400. Kiera James of Renfrew High, Annabelle Stokoe of Castlehead High and Ryan Donaghy of St Andrews Academy. With all three competitors scoring a maximum score in each climb we needed to have a climb off to split the pack. And congratulations to Kiera who won a very close final climboff on a very difficult climb.
Category D 2007-2008 was won by Kirklandneuk Primary's own James Mackay. James is a new member of our own climbing club and did very well to score an impressive 352/400.
Thanks again to everyone who took part and those who helped with the running of the event.
See you next year.
