MORE than 300 secondary school pupils took part in the Renfrewshire Schools Road Race.
The races, for girls and boys in S1, S2 and S3 along with senior pupils, was organised by Renfrewshire Leisure Active Schools staff, on Tuesday, November 3.
The starting point was at Linwood’s ON-X Sports Centre running track and the race route went along neighbouring streets.
Schools taking part were – Gryffe High, Castlehead, Gleniffer, Paisley Grammar, Linwood High, St Benedict’s, Park Mains, Trinity High, Renfrew High, St Andrew’s and Johnstone High.
The event was supported by volunteers from the Sports Coach Academy, Renfrewshire School of Sport Education, Kilbarchan Amateur Athletics Club, St Andrew’s First Aid and Sport Scotland Young Ambassadors.
Chief executive of Renfrewshire Leisure, Joyce McKellar said: “It was a fantastic turnout of enthusiastic young people who showed they are keeping fit and healthy through exercise.
“With as many pupils taking part it shows that everyone involved in promoting a healthier lifestyle for young people must be doing something right. It was a credit to the pupils teachers, club athletics coaches, Renfrewshire Council and our own trust’s efforts that so many youngsters were running in the event.”
