Cultural Conversations on Jambo! Radio
Join Matt Hickman, the lead singer/songwriter of four piece indie-rock outfit Brownbear and special guests for a Cultural Conversation centred on the importance of music and culture within BIPOC communities and how race can affect their role within the industry?
The special guests include, Beldina Odenyo/Heir of The Cursed – songwriter, sound designer and theatremaker. Singer/Songwriter, Heir of the Cursed and founder and creator of Jambo! Radio, George Tah. Songwriter Becky Sikasa - Joy, pain, and everything in between: Becky Sikasa delves deep to tie her heart to her words. With a voice that is as versatile as it is grounded, she paints soul-searching scenarios encouraging the listener to find answers to questions they didn't know needed asking. Trails of vocal harmony weave effortlessly through colourful arrangements to complete explorative, vibrant off pop tracks. After ending several years writing and touring the UK & Germany with soul group LUNIR, Sikasa's solo venture debuted at Cardinal Sessions Festival early 2020, only to be cut short by the ongoing pandemic. Now, as a selected artist for Bandpool 2021, a commissioned piece for Black History Month in the works and a nomination for PopNRW's Best Newcomer under her belt, her debut release is just round the corner.
