The Scottish Disability Sport Para-sport Festival was aimed at children who have a physical disability and/or visual impairment who attend mainstream school and are aged between P6 – S6.
This year's event took place on Friday 9th March 2018 at Ravenscraig in Motherwell.
This event is designed to allow young people to experience a range of Para-sports delivered by some of the best clubs and coaches available in the West of Scotland.
It provides a range of opportunities for young people to try new and exciting sports and learn more about the pathways that are available in the region. Furthermore, the event highlights the opportunities for young people with disabilities to achieve at the highest level and hopefully inspire them to become our stars of the future.
The sports that were on offer this year included:
Athletics, Boccia, Basketball, Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Seated Volleyball, Judo, Bowls.
Seven Renfrewshire athletes attended this year's event from 6 different schools: Arkleston, Auchenlodment, Bridge of Weir, Kirklandneuk, Park Mains & Woodlands.
The event was a great success with all athletes learning new skills and meeting new people from other authorities.
