Paisley Town Hall is being transformed as part of Renfrewshire Council’s £100m investment in Paisley town centre venues and cultural infrastructure over the next few years. A sell-out Festive Family Ceilidh was the last event before the doors closed until the Town Hall re-opens in 2022 as a major venue attracting events and people to the town.
Paisley Town Hall will receive a £22m internal refurbishment to become one of the landmark entertainment venues in the West of Scotland. The redesign will broaden the range of events the town hall can offer, and transform the performance facilities and visitor experience, as well as improved catering and conference facilities, better physical access, and replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems. It will close at the end of the year and reopen in 2022.
Paisley Town Hall has been at the heart of life in the town for the past 140 years – this revamp is aimed at keeping it that way for the future. It will preserve the beautiful architectural features inside and outside the building but add 21st-century facilities and upgrade elements of the building which need replaced for the building to remain viable over the long term.
Many regular events will be relocated to other venues. Renfrewshire Leisure also manages Renfrew Town Hall, Johnstone Town Hall and Tweedie Town Hall (Linwood). All of these venues can cater for a wide variety of events such are private hire, weddings, musical performances and much more.
