If you've only ever tried Pilates classes on a mat... you've been missing most of the fun! In a specialised Pilates class using Pilates Reformer machines, you will move your body towards balance as you strengthen, lengthen, tone and stretch yourself in places you didn't even know you had!
The Reformer machine adjusts to suit your individual body shape, your flexibility and your strength. Within a supervised group class of no more than 6 people, you'll be guided through a varied routine every session. Perfect for improving balance and toning!
The reformer is a resistance-based piece of equipment with a moving carriage that slides along a metal frame. Springs and ropes provide assistance and resistance. This enables you to perform similar exercises to mat based Pilates but with the aid of the springs and resistance exercises can be performed lying down, sitting, kneeling or standing, which creates and overall challenge to the body and a more natural way of it being strengthened functionally. The reformer can be adjusted to support injured or less stable clients and for more advanced participants it will challenge the body and core to provide a challenging full body workout.
This ultimate fitness workout combines Pilates, cardio and strength to give a unique group fitness workout, to challenge both men and women and improve your core, balance, flexibility and sport specific training.
The MVe Pilates Chair uses spring tension, this provides resistance, assistance and support which may be increased or decreased according to the exercise goal and your ability. The springs attach to a moving pedal which provides a level of instability, whilst the seat is fixed and stable. From beginners to advanced athletes, the MVe Pilates Chair will challenge everyone with a countless array of exercises and variations.
Utilising a Ballet Barre for better poise & grace this new fitness workout uses the same discipline as piloxing (pilates, boxing, dance).

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between mat based and reformers Pilates?
Your body provides resistance and assistance for the exercises in mat based Pilates, making use of gravity and your body weight. A reformer enables the exercises to be made easier or more challenging by offering additional support or resistance through the use of springs, pulleys and a moveable carriage.
Do I need to be fit to attend a class?
Classes are adapted to suit each individual and you therefore always work at your own pace, so all fitness levels can be catered for.
I'm already fit, what can Pilates offer me?
The main focus of Pilates is to strengthen your core stability muscles. This enables the body to work better from this strong, controlled core. Therefore, as a specific type of exercise you will still get benefits to complement your cardiovascular fitness. Come and try our reformer classes where resistance can be increased or decreased to make exercises more challenging.
I have an injury or am recovering from an injury, should I attend?
Please call us to discuss your needs, we may suggest a 1:1 session prior to joining a class. For all classes you must inform the instructor of any new or old injuries prior to starting the class. A review with a Physiotherapist will be suggested if felt appropriate. As with any form of exercise it is always recommended you seek advice from your GP before starting a class if you have any injuries or medical problems.
I'm pregnant, can I attend your class?
If you become pregnant whilst already attending classes please inform your instructor who will discuss your options with you. If you do not normally do exercise or attend classes prior to becoming pregnant it is not recommended to start reformer Pilates classes.
