Renfrewshire Leisure's Arts Team are pleased to bring you POP News! A bi-weekly newsletter sharing links and information about national and local funding, support, networks, advocacy, creative call-outs, opportunities and inspiration while also providing a platform to showcase the work of Renfrewshire-based creatives and organisations.
In this week’s edition of POP News (Feb 22 – Mar 8) it is really good to be able to share the welcome news that a further £17.5 million of emergency coronavirus funding has been allocated by the Scottish Government to support creative and events sector freelancers. These funds will be managed and distributed by Creative Scotland, and the application process will open soon.
This edition’s News, Events & Inspiration section features The Talk of the Town - the first in a series of three posters showcasing new works from Renfrewshire-based writers on display outside Paisley’s Gilmour St station. This first poster features a ‘reel for Paisley people’ by Roddy Scott. Roddy said; “The idea for my piece of writing on the billboard was to try to get people in the town to feel uplifted and to raise their spirits.” We certainly hope it raises a smile as you pass by on your daily walk!
Also, one last thing! Don’t forget to check out the final week of the Paisley Book Festival programme; there are some brilliant events scheduled, and they are all FREE!
POP News! comes out every two weeks; with the latest issue being sent to subscribers and all previous issues archived on this page.
Be one step ahead and receive the latest issue every second week via email - please subscribe by clicking here!
