Service Update – Coronavirus

Sports Venues

Safety is our priority as services restart

We are restarting our services in line with all Scottish Government guidance, in a careful and phased way, as soon as it is safe for us to do so. The safety of our staff and all of those who use our facilities is our priority. With that in mind, all decisions are being taken on a venue-by-venue, service-by-service basis.

Swimming pools

On April 26th, our swimming pools at ON-X Linwood, Lagoon Leisure Centre, Renfrew Victory Baths, and Erskine Pool re-opened, complying with all Scottish Government guidance on hygiene and physical distancing as part of the phased restart of our leisure services. Access will be via pre-booked time slots only. Please note that the pool at Johnstone Community Sports Hub is currently closed due to pending maintenance.

Gym facilities

On April 26th, services restarted at ON-X Linwood, Lagoon Leisure Centre, Renfrew Leisure Centre, Johnstone Community Sports Hub, and Erskine Sports Centre, complying with all Scottish Government guidance on hygiene and physical distancing. Please note that the gym facilities previously located at Park Mains Sports Complex has now moved to Erskine Sports Centre.

Access will be via pre-booked time slots only, which you can book here.

Outdoor sports courts

As laid out in Scottish Government’s guidelines, Renfrewshire Leisure reintroduced from Friday (March 12):

  • Outdoor fitness classes (limited to 29 participants and one coach) at ON-X Linwood, Park Mains High School in Erskine and Seedhill Community Sports Ground, Paisley. Places must be booked online in advance.
  • Athletics outdoor training at ON-X
  • Contact sports for under-12s for groups with existing block bookings for groups of up to 15 players and two coaches.
  • Non-contact sports for 12-year-olds and over, in groups of up to 15 people, with two coaches also allowed for 12 to 17-year-olds.

Some outside synthetic sports pitches will reopen to pre-existing club bookings, although changing room facilities as well as smaller pavilions and gym facilities (at Seedhill, Ferguslie and Ralston) will remain closed for now as a result of challenging physical distancing requirements. The pitches which will open are: Seedhill, Ferguslie, Ralston, ON-X and Renfrew Sports Centre. Others at our shared facility sites will reopen later following detailed health and safety reviews to ensure there has been sufficient time to settle pupils and staff safely back to schools.

Indoor sports courts

Bookings for a limited number of sports on indoor courts opened on April 26th.

To begin with - in order to ensure social distancing and to follow guidance from sporting national governing bodies the phased return of these activities will begin with:

  • Badminton / short tennis for singles (doubles can be played only if each pairing is from the same household).
  • Table tennis for singles games (doubles can be played only if each pairing is from the same household).
  • Single hoop basketball practice (one badminton court), one participant.

Bookings can be made by calling 0300 300 0250. Contactless payment is recommended. Non-members must pay at time of booking. If you are unable to attend your booked session, please cancel 24 hours in advance to transfer your booking. Booking payments are non-refundable.

Due to current Scottsh Government guidelines around indoor contact activities for non-affiliated club members, we will not initially not support bookings for contact, team sports or activities which may increase risk of close contact.

When planning your visit, please remember:

  • Entry is via pre-booked appointments only.
  • Bring your own equipment. None is available to hire at this time.
  • Bring a prefilled water bottle as no fountains are in operation.
  • Arrive ready for your activity as no changing facilities are available.
  • You must arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your activity so that we can confirm your attendance and contact information to support the Government’s track and trace programme. No late arrivals will be allowed access.
  • Staggered session times are in place as part of social distancing and hygiene measures.
  • Do not visit if you or anyone in your household is displaying any symptoms of Covid-19.
  • Face coverings must be worn when in communal public areas, but they do not have to be worn when taking part in activities.
  • Maintain a physical distance between yourself and others and follow hygiene guidelines at all times.
