People across the region are able to access many Renfrewshire Leisure services online while venues are temporarily closed.

All of the charity’s leisure centres, gyms, swimming pools, libraries and its heritage centre are currently closed in light of the enhanced Level 4 rules in place until at least the end of January.

Outdoor fitness classes have also had to be suspended to comply with Scottish Government guidelines.

While in-venue facilities are unable to operate, a vibrant and varied package of content - updated regularly - is available at www.renfrewshireleisure.com and via the online REN TV channel.

A vast selection of library books are also available for download via the array of services offered online by Renfrewshire Libraries.

Renfrewshire Leisure Chief Executive Victoria Hollows said: “Even though our venues are closed, we remain here for our communities.

“To help people stay active and occupied, we have more activities and material than ever for visitors to enjoy on via our website, from fitness classes for you to stream and join in with, to storytelling sessions for children and brilliant nostalgia videos.

“We take great pride in delivering services which are at the heart of our communities and we will continue to do all that we can to support residents’ health and wellbeing during these challenging times.”

“And we look forward to welcoming people back to our venues and access in-person services when it becomes possible for us to do so again. In the meantime, please stay safe.”

One of the events which people can look forward to is the second Paisley Book Festival, which will take place online from February 18-27. Inspired by the 200th anniversary of the Paisley Radicals, the festival will celebrate their spirit with a programme of grassroots activism, new ideas and political conversation, with events for all ages. Direct Debit payments are not being taken from members during January due to the continued disruption to services. Payment suspension will continue to be monitored in line with ongoing Government restrictions. Members will be kept up to date with the latest position.

Details on service updates will be shared as soon as they are available online and via Renfrewshire Leisure’s social media channels.
